Meeting on the 2nd of March

Two presentations were enjoyed this night.  First, our treasurer, Nina, gave a talk about the C.K. Williams quarry (which the club plans to visit later this year).  Second, our president, Robin, talked to us about how Lego may help spread the love of our hobby.  Photos provided by Dan Sackerman.

Meeting on the 2nd of February

Our President, Robin, gave a presentation on Labradorite.  He talked about the scientific properties, metaphysical properties, and gave a dramatic telling of an Inuit Legend regarding the stone.  It is doubtful anyone will forget what Bragg Refraction is thanks to comments from Dan Sackerman.  Dan also took the photos presented here.  Thanks Dan!

Meeting on the
5th of January

Our own Colette Flory lead a workshop about what rocks come from which types of volcanoes.  Members had the opportunity to sort different rock types between volcano sheets and were even able to sort into where in each volcano the rock formed.  Many individual discussions on the topic followed as people reminisced about volcanoes they have visited and pieces in their own collections.  Thank you Colette!
